Developing Independent, 21st Century Learners

In the middle school years, Lakeview Middle's curriculum focuses on helping students to become increasingly independent learners and preparing them to succeed in high school and beyond.

Deepening Core Skills; Exploring New Interests

In Grades 6–8, students deepen their knowledge and skills in four core subjects: History & Geography, Language Arts, Math, and Science.  Lakeview Middle works to help their students:
  • Develop independent learning strategies and study skills.
  • Deepen their reading comprehension and writing skills.
  • Learn advanced math concepts in preparation for higher level math courses.
Students also have the opportunity to participate in several connections courses:
  • Art
  • Band
  • Computer Science / Business Education
  • Chorus
  • Health
  • Family and Consumer Science
  • Physical Education
Keeping Students Engaged and Motivated

Our framework for learning works to keep middle schoolers interested and engaged with:
  • Projects that apply learning to the real world and are tailored to their interests.
  • Activities that encourage them to think for themselves as they apply what they learn in meaningful ways.
  • Assessments where they use their learning to demonstrate mastery of each concept.
